Confidence is... not expecting people to promote you!

As first-generation Latinas, we have to deal with many barriers throughout our careers.

Unfortunately, sometimes working hard will not get us the recognition or promotion we deserve.

Coming from an immigrant family, our parents instilled in us that we need to WORK HARD and tirelessly to “get ahead.”

This false misconception led me to believe I would only be seen and promoted if I followed this rule. As a confident career coach, I want to tell you, this harsh belief is not what will make or break your career.

So, what do you do?

• Learn how to use your voice and speak up.
• Be honest about how you feel and be intentional about where you invest your energy and work and if there is a payoff.
• Most importantly, know the difference between being valued and being used.
